About Us
A Small World Preschool is dedicated to supporting the whole child in a calm, respectful, and well-structured environment. Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to promote learning, cooperation, and emotional safety through consistent routines and meaningful interactions.
Our Approach
Our program follows Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) and is aligned with Creative Curriculum. Learning is hands-on, play-based, and intentionally planned to support children’s development across all domains.
Behavior guidance is based on:
Clear and consistent expectations
Calm, predictable adult responses
Logical, developmentally appropriate consequences
Teaching self-regulation and social skills
We do not rely on punishment or reward charts. Instead, children are guided to learn safe behavior through structure, modeling, and positive reinforcement. This approach is both developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed, recognizing that behavior is a form of communication and that children need both empathy and boundaries to feel safe.
Our Educators
Our teachers and classroom assistants are trained early childhood professionals who meet New Jersey licensing requirements and participate in ongoing professional development. Staff receive required training in:
Child development and supervision
Health and safety
Mandated reporting
CPR and First Aid
Our educators understand that children learn best through relationships. They provide warm, responsive care while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations that support self-regulation and positive behavior.
